Proof Of Financial Responsibility

1) Waiverable Offense – If you are mailing in a waiverable offense, be sure to include a copy of your insurance card that shows the vehicle you were operating was covered on the date of the offense.

2) Court Appearance Required – At your court appearance, bring proof of insurance that shows the vehicle you were operating was covered on the date of the offense.

3) If you fail to show proof on the road or to the court, as soon as the Bureau of Motor Vehicles receives your conviction and information that you failed to show insurance, they will issue a letter to the address shown on your ticket, affording you one last opportunity to show proof of insurance. You will have fourteen (14) days to mail such proof to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

*IF YOU FAIL TO SHOW PROOF OF INSURANCE, THE BUREAU OF MOTOR VEHICLES WILL IMPOSE A 90-DAY LICENSE SUSPENSION.
